Anterior tarsal tunnel symdrome - stretches?

Long ago I tore the anterior talofibular ligament in my left ankle and have recently noticed that my left foot is weaker and a little floppier than the right. In particular, I have noticed that the muscles of the lower anterior compartment of my left leg and the top of my foot are weaker. Bascially, they sometimes will not activate on their own (I have to think about it conciously) when I am running or climbing on the bike causing my ankle to over stretch and put alot of strain on the inside of my lower achilles tendon and posterior tibila tendon. Also, if I have shoes on all day I will get occasional pins and needles when I curl my toes upward.

I was poking around on the internet and saw a description of anterior tarsal tunnel syndrome and it seemed like that could be what I have (fascia on top of foot is too tight on the deep peroneal nerve causing muscular weakness in foot/anterior compartment). I have noticed when I roll my foot (pivoting on the litttle toe and rolling outward kind of like you would when you sprain your ankle) and try to stretch the top of the foot it feels a little better. Are there any other better stretches (or exercises) one can do to loosen the fascia (extensor retinaculum?) on the top of your foot to give the never a little more room?
