Another Ti question: 3/2.5 vs. 6/4

I have previously asked about the Litespeed Saber and the Guru Merus. Both of these bikes are 3/2.5 Ti. As opposed to the Blade which is/was 6/4.

I saw a review, think by Tom D (maybe) talking about how 3/2.5 was really a “better” material for bikes than the 6/4 variety. But, as I understand it, 6/4 is lighter and stiffer.

So, thoughts? Anyone compare the two?

6/4 itself isn’t lighter as a material, but the tubes can be made thinner because it is stiffer, therefore it can be made into thinner designs. But it is also more costly to buy and to work with.

So, if the tubes are thinner, does that mean that a 6/4 bike will not necessarily be stiffer than a 3/2.5 bike?

It can be. Depends on the design. As I remember, the 6/4 Litespeeds were stiffer than the 3/2.5.

I own a Litespeed Blade.
I also own a Litespeed Saber.

I’ve ridden several thousand miles on both bikes. I’ve never felt any difference in “bike stiffness” between them.

That’s what I was looking for. Thanks for the response. Which did you have first and why did you get the second one (just out of curiosity)?
