Another thought on bike safety

First off…the bike crashes that have led to these discussions make me sad for the families and for all of us.

Now…we all have run across the a-hole drivers, etc…you know, the ones that we feel like flipping off (and sometimes do).

But how about positive reinforcement for the good drivers…maybe work on cyclists having a better reputation on the road that way?

I always say “thank you” and/or wave when I see a car letting me in traffic…or even one who sees me and decides (correctly) to NOT proceed through the stop sign he/she is at until I get by. Waved last night to acknowledge a driver who waited patiently behind me before they turned right onto a side street (we know how frequent it is that they try to get around us and cause crashes). They’re doing the right thing…how about some love to them?

Just a thought.

Be careful and be nice!

No, we just need to legalize the killing of those assholes that do the stupid shit, and then let natural selection take its course.

Once again, for the comedically impaired, the above is completely and utterly meant as a joke.

Yeah…wouldn’t want to do anything to IMPROVE car-cyclist relations, would we? jeez. Just trying to take a positive approach. Mind you, I did not say that the reckless drivers shouldn’t be punished. But if we’re NICE to some drivers…it could actually HELP our cause.

I do the same. … although I can think of a handful of times when the person I waved to then peeled out and passed me/my friends… (I wonder if they misinterpreted the “hand”)…

Another comedically impaired cyclist that can’t make it to the end of a post to see that is was a JOKE!

Didn’t look at the signature line. sorry. does that mean you can’t post any serious posts?

But ya know…the radio dj’s (several of which lost their jobs) who were advocating hitting cyclists with their cars thought they were being funny, too. so sad.

Not a signature – just something I add to try to clarify posts such as the one above…

And yes, the DJs were doing such as a joke, but never ONCE said that it was a joke.
