Completed my first Ironman at LP in late July. I have done some basic workouts since then, but I am having trouble finding a rythm. My motivation is low and things it just plain feels like work to get out and Swim, Bike or Run. I thought I was coming back last week and did a full 5 days of workouts. However, when the weekend came and it was time for some longer workouts I bailed and did nothing. More or less… not motivated.
Anyone have these issues…
Also, I have an Oly Distance at the end of September. Barring I get back on it soon… will I still have a solid base to go into some speed worjouts?
I feel the same way, this after CdA, way back in June. I tell folks I’m semi-retired from tri for now. It’ll come back, the competitive fire, but until then I’m taking the pressure off myself and finding time to do the other stuff I like; riding my road bikes, paddling the kayaks, kicking the soccer ball around with the girls. It’s OK to give yourself a break and rest on your laurels for awhile (unless you’re one’a them Obligatory Exercisers; then you should get pysch help fast).
I’ve already put three pounds back on (not muscle) just by adding the demon alcohol back into my diet. Mmmmm, beer. Plus, I have an IM mug for my mochas and that’s just cool.
Remember, as Ben (or Jerry) says, “If it ain’t fun, why do it?”
Hey Externality, bit of an odd question here. My wife’s beloved CdA 2005 coffee mug got broken in a kitchen mishap this weekend, and I’m looking for a replacement. Do you still have yours? It’s probably sitting all lonely at the back of your cabinet of drinking vessels. Or maybe it’s your favorite mug, too.
