Another new 70.3 - name every city with a bridge

It’s Omaha. On the map bottom left hand corner match that up to Harrison st and i80 in Omaha. The rest of the map matches.

Also, the zoo and new pedestrian bridge. It’s the Des Moines replacement for the Midwest.

new pedestrian bridge

“New” might be stretching it just a touch at this point lol

8 hour drive from Boulder. 6 days before Boulder 70.3. Not annoying at all.

Worlds apart

USAT multisport nationals did their two years there, so I guess Ironman jumped right on in…

Makes sense that Omaha proved they can handle closing down roads for a significant time and they must have liked having multisport in their area.

I’d love if they could get a 70.3 in Milwaukee.

Things that do surprise me still are in order

  1. the lack of West Coast 70.3s… the gap from Santa cruz to oceanside is huge…

  2. lack of a full in the Pacific north west area

  3. lack of a new england full ( no NY is not part of new england)

Yeah, I keep hoping that one of these new race announcements turns out to be a full in the area. Losing Coeur d’Alene and Penticton really sucks. I wonder if Tri-Cities or Boise could be viable for a full at some point.

In my experience, you could say that New England reaches as far West as the right-hand guardrail on the Northbound lane of I-87

Your lucky if we count the right-hand guard rail of I-91…

Where would you put one in that area? And no, Lake San Antonio isn’t a good option.

And Omaha 70.3 it is. June 7, 2026.

Worlds apart in type of course? Sure. I’d like to be able to drive to more 70.3s instead of having to fly.

FWIW not complaining, because it is NOT a downriver swim. T1 and T2 are about 12 miles apart, though.

I was just coming to comment that I like the split transition. It usually means you’re not just running laps on the bike in the same area.

Logistically, it kinda sucks, but unless you’re going to a race where you can hop on a bus from the airport and walk to transition from your hotel, you’re already dealing with logistics.

I have this race on my list for next year if my Kona hunt doesn’t work out.

I admit I laughed at this one a bit too much.

I grew up in New Haven county and once you are west of Bridgeport that’s pretty much a New York suburb.

I lived in Wethersfield (the town just south of Hartford) until I was 11, then moved to South Jersey - which suited me MUCH better

I still have a bunch of cousins up there, and frankly, I don’t know how they do it?

I don’t HATE challenging logistics (St. George never bugged me!) but it does make it super challenging to avoid renting a car if you fly in.

Good luck in the Kona hunt! I’m going to keep my eye on this because I hate paying an IM fee to race on my training routes  and the timing should be pretty solid for me next year.
