Since I wasn’t the only person who thought Tom’s post as about beer, I’ll post something for those who would rather think about cold drinks than cold rides. My favorite beer is an Anchor Steam. What’s yours?
On Tom’s note, I road in 49 degree rain yesterday. I didn’t mind it too much, except that it got my brand new bike dirty. It was going to happen at some point, but I didn’t want to get it dirty yet. I guess that’s what towels are for.
That depends. When i have $12 i like budweiser, becuase i can get the “big red” special, 20 for 12. (this special accounts for the bulk of my caloric intake)
When i have <$5, i like Millier High Life Light, becuse it taste more like water than natty light.
On a diet, i like Bud Ice Light, i prefer that over bud light.
When i am not paying, and i am feeling like a sissy, i like corona (very cold)
When i am not paying and i feel like drinking actual beer, i am heineken fan.
I’ve had Killians, not a huge fan. Other beers i’ve consumed in bulk that don’t really merit consideration: busch, coors light, miller light, amberbock, becks, sam adams (sucks), and various cheap malt liquers.
Most importantly however, beer must be consumed out of a glass container/bottle. Aluminum and metalic recepticales are for soda.
Favorite Beer of All Times: Victory Hop Devil
Usually anything by Victory or Dogfish
Anything Belgium is usually good. Dislike most pilsners with a passion.
For cheap beers I have a soft spot for PBR and Genee Cream Ale from college.
I’ve actually got a case of Chimay on a series of races that I’m going with a friend. 7 races started with a trail run, then a couple of tris and the state TT and an open water swim thrown in.
Right now, my favorite is Red Stripe. Not that I like the flavor all that much, but I just got back from the Caribbean and drinking Red Stripe (while listening to steel drum music) is my way of trying to trick myself into thinking I am still there.
All time favorite: Harpoon IPA
Favorite Stout: Guinness
Favorite home brew: Double Chocolate Porter
Favorite English ale: Tetley’s
Favorite Pale Ale: Sierra Nevada
Favorite 40: Steel Reserve 211. It tastes like horse piss, but don’t they all. ;p
The Anchor Porter is pretty good, so is their seasonal. My favorite styles of beer are IPA and porter.
While in Utah I tried Polygamy Porter which was a pretty good beer. Brewed in Salt Lake City and yes naked people on the label. And the slogan on the label is “why have just one!”
ugh the mention of double choc porter makes me want to stop moving and go grab a few from Young’s. but then I’d have to pay the piper (wife) and that can bad, but if I get the move completed before she gets home the piper pays me!
Favorite local Beer(s): Hefeweizien Frankenmuth Brewing, India Pale Ale Black Frorest Brewing
What I usually drink: Harp
What I drink when I’m broke: Killians
What I drink when it’s hot: Rolling Rock
What I drink when it’s cold: Black and Tan
What I drink when out with the local crowd: Hofbrau Haus
What I drink at the best bar in town: Bass
What I drink when someone else is buying: Chimay
Can you tell that I live in a German themed tourist trap (Frankenmuth Michigan) Nothing to do but drink beer and train, the local think I’m crazy to give up beer time to train.
Tucker you beat me to the correction…Harp is brewed by Guiness.
I am a Bud Bottle man myself, but also a big fan of Anchor Steam and love all the Northern California Micro’s. The Lagunitas IPA is great, and to keep it super local Marin Brewing Company’s Mount Tam Pale Ale. Nothing like a few of those to wash down a Mount Tam burger after a hard workout.
Please don’t think that I mock you by mentioning this at every beer thread that comes up. It’s just so hard to believe that I actually crafted something so magically delicious! Well, with a little help from my yeastie friends from Nottingham. If it makes you fell better, the last batch was better than this one.
Finish the move, get paid, then grab a pint or two. Everybody wins!
