…that the promoter of the World AG Championship in Hawaii is also the promoter of the Ford NYC Triathlon, who has requested that USATriathlon not release any details of the water testing done for the latter race. I would guess that said promoter has some pull with the ITU (like to waive the “max 18” per country rule, just to take a random example), which would assist USATriathlon in addressing the issues with the National AG cancellation.
As someone else has in their signature, “I’m not saying, I’m just saying”. But it sounds a lot like some itchy backs need scratching.
no kiddin?
wonder how this is gonna play out…?
This is the latest email regarding Worlds:
Athletes,
Just a couple things regarding the opportunity to race in Honolulu. You are only eligible to compete if you picked up your packet in Kansas City for the 2005 National Age Group Championship. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Only the top 10 U.S. finishers per age group will receive the official title of “2005 Team USA” member.
- The ITU will ONLY record results for the top 18 U.S. finishers per age group.
- Paperwork MUST be received by Friday, August 26, 2005; 12:00pm Mountain Standard Time
- Guidelines and Deadlines are NOT flexible or negotiable.
It doesn’t seem to be anything remiss about how they’re handling it, except that people that normally would have been on the team in the number 11-16 spots are getting screwed if they don’t make Top 10 USA. If ITU is recognizing Top 18, why isn’t USAT?

I think this is referring to those who didn’t qualify via Shreveport? Those are the other 6? Poorly worded, it seems.

I’m trying to get an answer to that question. I’ll let you know if I hear anything. It could impact my decision as to whether I opt to go or not.
