Amphipod hydration belt - cool beans

I just stopped by my favorite toy store (Forward Motion Sports in Danville, CA) to pick up some additional fuel belt clip on bottles when I saw, for the first time, a new kid on the block. It’s called the Amphipod system. The bottles come in 5oz (gel) and 8 oz (electrolye drink) and they are comfortable! A lightly padded material is on the inside but does not appear to be anything to worry about.

The KEY feature is that the bottle holders and bottles are desgned such that the bottle “clicks” into the bracket rather than having to futz with cramming the darn thing back into the tight elastic holder. It’s totally adjustable and you can add and remove flasks depending on race length and hydration needs by sliding them off the belt at one end. Also, the flask mounts can be rotated in 90 degree increments so the bottles can sit on your waist sideways or upside down, whatever you like. Finally, it also comes with a little removable pouch that would hold ID, keys, or a cliff bar or two.

Needless to say, I now own one and will be giving a test run on Saturday before I use it on Sunday for the 1/2 vineman.

don’t worry, I understand your joy. I work at a running store and everytime new Amphipod brand stuff comes out we all race to see what it is and try it out. They make the best stuff, never anything 2nd rate
