Same here. On the bright side (no, this isn’t really a bright side for anyone), this gives me a year to recover from surgery and come back all guns blazing!
I might show up and do the long course anyways. Just so I can stay in a routine.

Spent the whole afternoon yesterday texting w Tom G -
he’s been working for weeks trying to come up with a solution/workaround for the construction zone due to the replacement of the steel bridge at the top of the Trapps climb, but the DOT, NYS Troopers and USAT all eventually put the kibosh on it.
There’s really no way to reroute the bike course that doesn’t involve a ton of L turns, w bikes going in both directions, etc.
Believe me - it wasn’t for lack of trying.
All that said - there’s absolutely nothing stopping people from showing up that morning to do some self-supported “training” from the Spring Farm entrance.
The roads are open to traffic - but there will be a stoppage at the construction zone due to it being down to 1-lane thru there.
I’m down for a long training day…will miss the hecklers though.

I can’t let a cancellation deter me from my long term plan.
As long as I can show up for the long course for the next 3 years and finish, I will be able to do my tenth LC when I’m 50.
will you set up the keg & bbq along with doing the standup heckling routine?

Wow…would have been my 6th AmZof in a row. I had been reducing the number of multisport events I was doing the last couple of years, in fact AmZof was the only one I did last year. Perhaps this is a sign to retire and finally go pro in beer snobbery.

Agreed, if I am going to drown, it will be in beer…and once the race is over…and now that I am pro, great beer that someone else bought.
