American Primeval on Netflix

A story about the west, Mormons and lots and lots of violence

One of the best things I’ve seen on Netflix in a long time

I thought it was a bit overdone

I liked it, was the first in that complex time in the middle of the civil war where the west was just out of bounds. I haven’t looked to see how historically correct the series was, but loved the mountain man/Mormon/Indian/US cavalry intersections at this pivotal time in history. Bad deeds everywhere by everyone, but good guys just got erased in that time and place…

Pretty sure the LDS church will not be happy with this part of their history being out there, give them another 500 years and it will all be a myth no doubt…

It’s like Game of Thrones, western edition.

I guess…The coincidences are just too much

so Isha is going to score a dragon and wreak havoc? excellent

i’m really enjoying it. The raid by the militia reminded me if the similar scene in The Revenant

I meant more in the level of brutality and gratuitous violence.

If you’re enjoying American Primeval, 1883, a prequel to Yellowstone, is another fantastic mini-series you would probably enjoy.

picked it up again last night and holy cow it’s violent. But I’m not sure it’s gratuitous

animals getting skinned, people getting sewn up (or reducing a compound fracture) without good anaesthesia, raids, rapes, shooting critters, whippings, summary hangings . . . i’m waiting for a grizzly to show up for some good old mauling.

I don’t think they’re exaggerating the fact that all this happened routinely, just the brutality per minute, which is crazy.

Now will have to look into how the Mormons got such a spectacular image makeover, if that’s actually what happened
