For years I have used the Aqua Sphere Kayenne goggles. It seems that Kayennes are now quite difficult to find, and if I do track them down they are now stupidly expensive. Has anyone switched from Kayennes to an alternative brand/model that has good durability, similar fit and priced well?
I’ve been using a clear Kayennes for indoor pool use for a few years now.
But outdoors I’m using Zoggs Predator Flex for years too. The ‘original’ shape not the ‘mk2’ version (I found the Mk2 version dreadful).
Maybe not as durable as Kayennes - the bridge can fail (and historically they did have bad batches, so keep the receipts, just in case !) - but not bad.
But at least my N=1 sample bothgoggles work / seal on my noggin OK.
The two substitutes that come to mind are the Zoggs Predator Flex (mentioned above) and the TYR Spec Ops 2.0. As noted, the Zoggs often have a problem with the bridge breaking (poor design).
Thanks playguy, I am in Canada so maybe distributer issue? I also have a US address so if shipping is offered should be a viable option.
@Kid
Perhaps. I know we were pretty low with supply but just last week we got a huge supply; Kayennes, and 4 other models. If you can’t find them, let me know and I’d be happy to help.
I also really like the Kayenne but had to grab a quick replacement at a race expo this summer and all they had were Arena googles. The Arena Cobra Tri are the model (there are a few variations though) and they’ve been pretty solid. Great visibility and have held up great for 4 or 5 months so far.
I see some available on eBay. I use the ‘seal’ version, great visibility in open water and I have the photochromic lens that works great in all conditions. Since they are not available anymore they’re saved for racing. I’ve used Roka with great success but now that I have Form goggles they are my go to for the pool.
Try the Xterra velocity goggles. They are frequently on sale for $9.99, about 1/3 the price of the Aqua Sphere Kayenne goggles. I used to swim with the Kayenne goggles and gave these a try. They are almost exact replicas and for the price I always have a few extras.
