I suspect one of my kids have hidden/misplaced my Ant+ USB stick for Garmin 910XT. Is there any alternative way for transferring training files to the computer without using the Ant+ USB stick?
I tried to just connect the watch with the charging clip, but it just … charges…
You should be able to transfer data directly to your computer by using the charging cable and an available USA port on your computer. Check out the Garmin site for the necessary software.
You can also buy a replacement ANT+ stick on Amazon or ebay. You don’t need the Garmin branded stick.
Correct. The charging clip only has 2 prongs, + and - (no data prongs)
You may be able to transfer through your phone with some attachments or software. What phone do you have?
To transfer the data to your phone you’ll need an ANT+ adapter and a lightning to 30 pin connector for iphone 5. You’re talking an expense that’s already substantially higher than the cost of a new ANT+ stick.
You can order another stick for garmin. Or check out dcrainmakers blog. Sometime back he found a cheaper alternative. It might be a Belkin product that cost about $25. It was much smaller than the garmin stick so more optimal for laptop use.
I just leave it in the cpu now. I don’t know why the darn Garmin is sooo huge! This little thing works just as well, if not better, and is a small fraction of the size.
You can transfer directly to some Android phones (I use my Samsung Galaxy S4) via ANT+ without any dongles. You will however need an app like Uploader for Garmin ( https://play.google.com/...carlopescio.uploader )
Be careful when you purchase the Garmin sticks. If the price is really low, you may be getting the older first generation USB01 device.
The newer ones are USB02 which is marked on the device in print not much larger than microscopic. All of the newer Garmins and alternatives (e.g. suunto) seem to be second generation.
Another vote for Suunto. I bought one after I snapped the garmin one off of my laptop. No worries about doing that with the suunto as it only sticks out about a half inch from the usb port.
Just use this as an excuse to buy some other form of ANT+ technology (bike computer, watch, etc). If the wife complains, toss the 'well, if YOUR kid didn’t…"
There is no alternative. You have to have a USB ANT+ stick. The 910XT does not transfer data by any other medium except ANT+.
True, but it does NOT have to be a Garmin-branded ANT USB stick. The Suunto movestick (super low profile) is what I use, and it transfers the 910xt data via ANT+ totally fine, no hiccups whatsoever compared to the Garmin stick.
