So we’re about 8 miles into our ride this morning through a semi-industrial area. We approach a side street with a stop sign on our right (no stop sign for us). A tractor trailor gets there at the same time and runs the f***king stop sign!!! He just sat there with a dumb ass look on his face. What the hell is he thinking?!?! Fortunately I was expecting it, as usual, and was able to get out of the way.
When an 18 wheeler runs a stop sign ones escape options become quite limited…
In other news,I once got run over by a boat while riding on a highway in Quebec…
Glad you didn’t get hurt.

Glad you were prepared and avoided him. Did he see you entering the same intersection?
This incident make me think that we, as the minority on the road, have to be ever vigilant, as you were in this.
I once hung on to the side of the right side bed of a small truck as the driver made a right hand into a parking area right in front of me. I was on a two lane one way street and was watching the vehicles just ahead of me. I saw the truck slow down and knew what the driver was about to do. I didn’t see a turn signal, but as I saw the vehicle start to swerve right, I thought I was going to smash right into the side of it.
Once I caught up to the driver, who had another passenger, they were freaking out (two college age girls), thinking that they almost killed me. I was in their blind spot at the moment they turned, so, they honestly did not see me. I told them I was not mad, and thanked them over and over for NOT stopping. Had they seen me and put on the brakes full force, I would have crushed my brand new wheelset, and probably received some major injuries. Instead, and this happened without me thinking about it, I unclipped from teh left pedal, but staying clipped into the right one, and leaned against the right side of the truck bed while hanging onto it and my bike, and made the right hand turn with them. They slowed down enough through the turn that once through it, I pushed away from their vehicle and clipped back into my left pedal.

Crazy. I was nearly hit by a boat on two separate occasions last summer. First time, a trailer carrying a speed boat comes unhitched from the truck that is towing it and misses me by a few inches. Second time, a kayak flies off a trailer after hitting a big bump and I had to jump into the grass to avoid getting hit. Both happened within the same week.
