The difference between oclv 120, 110 and 55. My new Lemond will have high and med carbon, same as 110? They postponed the 850 gram frame all high mod Tete De Course frame. Would this be like 55 trek carbon? Why if Lemond is owned by Trek and are in Madison are their frames made overseas, are not Trek made in Madison? Thanks
Oh and does all high modulos carbon really cost more?
Not all Treks are made here. The 55xx bikes are not, most of the Al bikes are not. The Madones are made here.

Most low / mid aluminum Treks are made Overseas. The high end carbon bikes are made in Waterloo. I would guess Lemond is similar; high end carbon is made in the US. Aren’t there a few Trek people here; Carl? Others?
As I understand it the higher the number the better the carbon, but also heavier. I want to say that the 120 isn’t that much heavier than the 110. Interesting topic, hopefully someone will chime in. Aren’t you sponsored by Trek? Find out for us all.
In Trek’s terminology, the lower the number the better the carbon. I think the lowest they currently use is 55 (i.e. 55 grams per square metre) for parts of the very high end frames. The other grades used are 110, 120, and 150.
I don’t know what the technical differences are, probably less resin in the higher grade stuff??
I stand corrected. I thought that with more material in the carbon it would be stronger. The downside would be that it weighs more but I think that the added strength outweighs (no pun intended) the additional weight. Nevermind my babbling. I’m going to crack open that Trek brochure and see what I can find out.
My Lemond is from Wisconsin.
High Modulus carbon certainly costs more.
My Dealer told me the new carbon Lemonds are made overseas. Lemond was going to come out with a 850 gram frame compared to the Victoria 950 grams. Was told the “Tete de Course” (850 gram) was cancelled due to production problems of getting the frame produced in time. The price difference between bikes was $1200. Was wondering if it really cost that much more to produce. The Trek 5.9 price would be about the same as the Tete would have been. It is also speced about the same as the Victoria. Thanks
