Need opinions. Bike is mostly black. Is it a faux pas to have an all white saddle. The bike would have white grip tape.

I think it’s awesome contrast. An all black bike gets lost with almost any background. Plus when you’re on the bike, almost nobody sees the white saddle much. My trainer bike has a white saddle and it looks awesome when I’m not on it.

My question is not in the top 20 non race/training related threads this week I bet. I (like many others on here) like their bike to not only be fast, but look good at the same time.

Some splashes of a different colour on a bike can make it look cool.
White seat and bar tape will show the dirt more and not look great after awhile. I got rid of my white bar tape and went back to black
all black frame and wheels with white saddle and bar tape looks money.
my previous ride was decked out like that, i’ll see if i can find a picture when i get home from work.
go with fizik bar tape, it’s alot easier to keep clean than other brands.

Would you ride a pink saddle with a picture of a penis on it? Of course it’s a fashion show…sometimes we can ride it as fast as it can go more often when motivated by how it looks.

Yes, very sharp… but only if you keep the white tape & saddle clean… otherwise, it spoils the effect.
Tough to keep white saddles and bar tape clean. I prefer black for both because I’d rather spend more time riding my bike than cleaning it.

Agreed. Some people like to spend their spare time keeping their bike looking clean and sharp. Those people are usually single and childless
Yes but noone will notice that side if you are wearing white.

Possibly - especially if they are new shorts. Soak them in the laundry tub with laundry soap and see if they “bleed” any black into the water.
There used to be white “seat covers” that you could put over a black saddle. That was 20 years ago. I don’t know if they make those anymore. They fit with elastic, so tight that you could barely tell it was a cover and not the actual saddle.

I put white tape and a white saddle on all my bikes. May be in my head, but I feel like it increases how visible I am to cars.
I thought the whole point was to have white accessories on all contact points. (i.e. saddle, bars, pedals)

Agreed. The only guys and gals I know with white tape/saddles and pristine bikes are childless. The rest of us are just happy to get enough time to ride.

Pink is definitely the color of choice for those that think riding a bike is a fashion show. NTTAWWT
