Alcudia swimming

I’m going to be in Alcudia next week and am trying to spoil my trip by attempting some swimming.

Is the open water off playa mura warm enough for swimming yet?

My hotel doesn’t have a lap pool; are there any lap pools offering drop ins?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, no problem with a wetsuit. If the day is warm you won’t have any issues with the water temperature. I was in Alcudia a month ago and swam there. Also, I am almost sure there is a municipal indoor pool.

Check out Swimmers Guide to see if there’s a pool within a reasonable distance of your hotel.

Not Alcudia but swam at Port de Soller on the other side of the island 2 days ago - was fine with wetsuit - hands/feet not cold after 30min (and I suffer from cold hands/feet when <15 degrees or so). Enjoy!

fwiw i was swimming mornings at the beach in port de polencca and it was lovely. early i preferred wetsuit, later in the day without. lots of others swimming too

Yeah, I swam 3 weeks ago sans-wetsuit in that area (https://www.strava.com/activities/8807779095) - zero problems after 50 mins. Even went back out to get some photos/videos for another 20-30 mins.

I actually had brought my wetsuit, but given people were playing in the water with bikinis and less, it was a bit hard to justify throwing on the wetsuit.

Thanks everyone. Open water swim off the playa mura was absolutely fantastic. I wore a wetsuit and was very comfortable. I’d estimate around 20 Celsius. Possibly a bit too cool to swim for a long period without a wetsuit but definitely would be ok for shorter swims.
