I am conducting a study on the relationships between alcohol, drugs, recovery and endurance sport and will be in the B.C. (and then Seattle)
area from Wed Feb 27 to March 5.
If you are interested in participating in an anonymous and confidential interview in which you will simply be asked to share your experiences please contact me at fit2quit@gmail.com.
Most importantly, your story may just help someone else out.
I can give a tons of info from experience on alcohol, drugs, and endurance sports. As for the recovery part, I have nothing for you. Never experienced it.
Last call in the case that anyone is still interested in this study as I do have a few interview spots left and there is now an honorarium that you would also recieve for your valualbe time…apart from simply helping some other folks out by sharing your experiences.
P.S.: all the power to you Bossman but I don’t know how you do it…I would send my Cervelobaby into the ditch!
What do you need to know? I am an alcoholic and an athlete. Both effect each other. I drink less when training, I train less when drinking. I try not to let either get in the way of my family or work.
I was an alcoholic that couldn’t find a way out of the haze. I was 320lbs. I never woke up in a different state. I never missed work or beat my wife, but I did drink to excess (bottle a whiskey easy) everyday.
I gave my self the greatest gift ever; I decided that my life long dream of running a marathon could happen if I quit drinking.
I have since run 6 marathons, HIM, 2 Centuries and many many other races. I now weigh 175lbs. I am currently injured (imagine that) but if all goes well I am doing my first IM at Vineman in August this year.
