Album with most hits

When I was in HS I hated going out and buying music because 90% of the time you’d buy and album that you had heard a couple goods songs of and the rest of the album was crap.

I started building a few play lists and this reminded me of this issue. I’ve run into a few albums where I’ve heard almost every song on them and a few that has had one hit song.

So what albums out there have the most hits from them? More out of curiosity than anything as it really doesn’t matter these days. I was think that some of the Beetles Albums, Elvis maybe? Most of you are WAY more into music than I am so I thought I’d come to the source of all global knowledge…the Lavendar room.

The one that comes to mind first is FM’s Rumors: 4 Top Ten singles.

Don’t know how old you are but most albums I bought in the 70’s were great in fact I often found the songs that were not hits to be better, but to answer your question there’s a couple I guess, neither are my favorite,. Thriller and Rumors

I found it. 4 tied with 7 top 10 songs. The results were moderately disappointing. 2 Jacksons - ok The Boss - sure Drake - huh?

Thriller
Born in the USA
Rythm Nation
Scorpion

The 2 Jacksons also each have an album that had 6.

And for #1 songs that is more disappointing.

4 each for MJ with Bad and Katy Perry for Teenage Dreams

ETA - this proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that the charts have limited correlation with quality.

Springsteen’s Born in the USA had s bunch of hits.

My first thought was Hysteria

Mine was Thriller.

I always forget how big MJ was. Born in the USA I can see. Janet Jackson is a bit of a Surprise…I’m with you on Drake. I just actually quick cruised thru the album, 24 song of which I think I have heard three. I did get to hear N@#g@#!er several times and M#%$ther%&*F@#c#$er as well as several other classic phrases in the matter of say five minutes.

Are you looking for ‘hits’ or #1’s?

If hits, then some good ones already been mentioned. Some from my childhood include:
Def Leppard Hysteria (7 hits)
Bon Jovi New Jersey (5 hits)
Poison Open up and Say Ah (4 hits)

I’m pretty sure that there are some more recent Pop artists that are dominating this field, but I’m not confident that they have ‘albums’ any more.

does a soundtrack count? BeeGee’s Saturday Night Fever had a bunch. Earth Wind and Fire All n’ All up there too

I think with many people, when they buy an album from an artist, their favorite songs tend not to be the hits. For me it is definitely the case. I’m a big Counting Crows fan and the majority of songs I will listen to over and over again are the ones most people have never heard. I’m that way with almost any artist.

Wow Hysteria had 7 hits? Shows how out of touch I am…lol

Hits? Don’t know, don’t care.

Sgt. Pepper has the following songs(including but not limited to):
With a little help from my friendsLucy in the sky with diamondsGetting betterFixing a holeWhen I’m 64A day in the life
That’s pretty good.

ETA… I am too lazy to type it out. Revolver and Rubber Soul also have tons of great songs on them. Then there’s Abby Road and the White Album.

Basically just sign up for the SiriusXM to get the Beatles channel.

Genesis with Invisible touch come to mind.

Who’s Next instantly comes to mind and start to finish is hard to beat:

Baba O’riley
Bargain
Love aint for keepin’
My wife
The song is over
Getting in tune
Goin’ mobile
Behind Blue eyes
Won’t get fooled again.

Wow* Hysteria* had 7 hits? Shows how out of touch I am…lol

It was doing moderately OK, until the 3rd single “Pour Some Sugar On Me” hit the strip clubs, then it just exploded

Essentially looking for “Songs that I’ve heard of” and “Rest of album does not suck really bad”. Not necessarily Albums with the most #1 hits. An Album with 5 #1’s and 7 songs that are painful to listen too would rank lower than an album with 10 songs that where on or near the charts and two songs that were kinda not bad.

There’s no rules here…so yes

Doesn’t that violate the number of songs that are painful to listen to standard?

And for my personal opinion regardless of chart position, Peter Gabriel So. Almost 35 years later and I still love that album, start to finish.
