Alan Webb predictions...just like riding a bike

Always late to the party, as I just read about Alan turning to triathlon.

Just as Chann McRae, Steve Larsen and company and co had huge engines will not gauranteed to get you where you want to go. Being a good puzzle person is just as important as a huge V02.

If you ask me, both Chann and Larsen under performed compared to their potential. I ran with Chann a few times in 2003 and his mentality for the run was too in sync with his cycling. Both of these cyclists clobbered themselves to death with run training, ultimatley weakening them on the bike. Of course, I am not talking about the first season where Larsen tip toed into the sport, as he smashed it.

This will be a tricky transition. Back in 93, I moved from running to multisport. I was lucky to have randomly run into Joel Thompson. I was lucky enough to become just as a good of a cyclist as I was a runner. If he can do the same, the duo from GB may have something to worry about. I hope Alan has great guidance. Baby steps.

Prediction time: Assuming he does Oly distance, both non drafting and drafting, what kinda marks will he do for the run and bike time for the non drafting within his first year?

RUN
Non Draft: 32:40
Draft: 31:30

BIKE
Non Draft 59:45

Go get 'em Alan!
