Airborne tri bike - experience?

I have been researching new bikes and came across the airborne x-1. A few people have mentioned they are happy with their road frames and Dan’s review of the x-1 seemed positive. Anyone own the x-1? What are your thoughts on BB stiffness, reliability, ride quality? For those in the know - how would you compare these bikes to QR, litespeed, seven, other titanium bikes?

Tom - do you sell airborne bikes? any other dealers?

Thanks!

Chris

Ride the 2004 Airborne Zeppelin Ti…Not a tri bike but I love it. Smooth, nice geometry, responsive but not bumpy.

For some reason, Airborne has a bad rap with riders. They are made in China so people have a problem with them I guess. I don’t see a whole lot of them on the road but I like mine.

I have an Airborne Spectre–the predecessor to the X-1. I enjoy riding it. There is a large “snob factor” as I am sure you know in cycling. People assume because something is more expensive it is automatically better. People riding Litespeeds will look down their nose at you. Just remember, you probably paid less than half what they paid.

Airborne gives a lifetime frame guarantee on Ti frames and a crash replacement warranty. I have not spoken to anyone with an Airborne that wasn’t happy with it.

Thanks for the responses - anyone else have anything to share?

I know a gal who rides one. She is the reigning World age group champ for her AG. Hers is the one with the bent looking top tube and carbon seat stays. Her and husband both have one and love them.
