Ahh $80 for a heart rate monitor strap?

So my polar t-61 coded strap stopped working. i was looking for one online and noticed they cost $70 for a new one. i will have had mine for two years this July. Is there another option for getting a new strap that dosn’t cost so much?

btw - if i jiggle it a little bit, it sounds like there is something loose in the strap.

The wear link belt is listed as coded I do not know if is compatible with your monitor so call to be sure. it is $20 less and is more comfortable and you can change the batteries yourself down the road. I am thinking about getting one of these myself.

If you’re getting a new one, check out the Polar WearLink transmitters. They’re coded like the T-61, but they’re a lot more comfortable. I picked one up at the expo at Wildflower for $35 or $40 – there’s a new one on Ebay right now for $42.

Trisports.com has them for $50: http://www.trisports.com/powetr.html

We both posted at “9:59”, I must have beaten you to it by a few seconds.

I also bought the wearlink recently as a replacement for my coded polar watch. It works well and is comfortable. The only problem for me is that the plastic is already breaking up after less than a month of use. I never use it in the pool, just when biking and running, and when racing. I am betting this is a freak occurance and the good folks at trisports.com should replace it without problems.

It is a very comfortable strap. Oh, and it only needs to be wet down with water and not the old goopy HRM gell stuff. Thats a nice bonus.

Check out www.polarservicecenter.com or www.chponline.com. (same place) They will do an exchange, so it’s cheaper.

Exchange cost for new coded transmitter $34.90

If you handy with tools and careful to seal up the transmitter afterwards, you can replace the battery yourself. There were some web pages I saw a while ago detailing the process.

Check the warranty on the belt. I had mine crap out on me and it was replaced gratis.
