Aggressive Drivers?

This has happened to most if not all of us at some point at least once. I just got back from riding a quick 20 miles or so. On the return leg home, some jerk laid on the horn before he got past and didn’t exactly move to the left to give me room. This is a two lane road. Not a major artery as far as traffic load. There was no oncoming traffic that he had to squeeze by. This was a deliberate harassment if not attempted assault in my opinion. I’m sure I could have touched the vehicle if I wanted to. Thats how close it was. I’ve had similar events since I started training for Tri’s ten years ago. As of late I started practicing reading cars license plates as they go by because I knew it was a matter of time before it happened again. So, this time I got the tag and stopped and called the cops. I’m hopping this jerk at least gets a phone call or a visit at his front door by the police to tell him this behavior is a no no. Is there anything else I can do!

If you can swing it some how, get the registration info on the license number, and then check out if it’s the guy.

Then…

*Go to a local library, or other public use computer where you can sign on the 'net.
*Log on and go to yahoo or hotmail, and get an e-mail account with that guy’s name and address.
*Sign him up for every cycling magazine on the planet, using that email as the contact.

(and if you really want to get nasty, I know a few guys on other boards that have some REALLY creative ideas to make the guy’s life a living hell)

Always use public computers to do this, so that the IP address can’t be traced to you.

Do what this cyclist did: http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Issue/story?oid=oid%3A418656

The short of it: group got buzzed by a motorist; wrote down liscense plate number; mailed letter from attorney’s office stating that the motorist needed to either send a $100 check made payable to the Salvation Army or they’ll sue his ass.

He paid up.

I Love it! I’ll keep this in mind. I may try the other sugg. about the letter to the motorist!

Thanks, I’m giving this serious consideration. I know a couple worth while charities that could use the money!
