[Again] Knee pain

I am having some pain here:

^^ Even a little below that, like move the circle a milimeter or two down and that’s where it hurts.

It’s not really the knee though, so that’s why I’m not -too- worried. I’m going to see a doctor next week (hopefully), but in the mean time does anyone have any idea what it is?

Last year I wore these duct-tape like bands, but those kept falling off when I started to sweat and I gave up on them. I did a few things like change shoes and stop swimming breaststroke, and over time the pain seemed to go away.

Anyway before my big race I wore my new racing shoes to a practice, and it’s all been downhill from there. That place stared hurting (for some reason it didn’t hurt during the race :).

So does anyone know what it might be? Muscle-imbalance? Do I need strengthening, psyotherapy or what?

Thanks

Knee pain on the medial side well below the joint itself (it is below the joint, isn’t it?) is frequently pes anserine bursitis, an irritation in the place where your medial hamstrings come together and insert on the tibia. The trouble is that you need someone who can actually do a physical exam on your knee to figure this out. Guessing on the internet or even an MRI is no substitute for someone who knows how to examine a knee. Glad you’re going to see someone.

Freestyle,

I’m guessing you pronate more with the right foot and don’t have enough motion control on the shoe to balance that pronation. The fact that it was aggravated by wearing your racing shoes, which have very little to no pronation control, makes me think it’s a pronation problem.

You might need new shoes with more motion control in the short term, and to think about changing your running technique in order not to land as much on your heel, that will aggravate any excessive pronation you might have. And stay off the track and off racing shoes!

Nice legs freestyle
.

It actually hurts in both of my legs, but for the explanation it was easier to talk about one of them.

Smartasscoach, I don’t think it’s a running form question. I’ve talked to a running coach before and she said I had a very nice form. She did say my foot became a little too ‘loose’ when I sprinted, so that may be part of the problem.

Argh I wanna get this over with so I can start my base training. The HR must go down!

Well, next time… POST THE REAL PROBLEM!!!

Anyway, it still looks like a pronation problem. I didn’t get that “loose foot” problem, but I bet she was able to analyze your running form a lot better than me

Another possibility are “growing pains”. I’ve coached someone your age that had trouble getting ANY running in during a growing spur.
