AG Nationals 2025 location

  1. Does anyone know where USAT AG Nationals will take place?

  2. Advice: I’m signed up to race AG Nationals this year (2024) and training like a beast. Stars seemed to be aligning well with work/family/health to allow for really focused training and hoping to finish in top 25 for AG (which years ago would have seemed impossible). Then… my in-laws (whose health is unfortunately declining somewhat rapidly) decided to throw a big birthday party the same weekend. Do I skip AG Nationals this years (already qualified for 2025, easy peasy) and pick another A race (maybe aim to finally aim for 10hr PR at IMAZ) knowing I can do AG Nat next year. My challenge is I expect 2025 is going to be a really tough year professionally (lots of international travel due to a new product launch, etc) which will make for inconsistent training).

If you do qualify for worlds, it is in Australia next year I think, so that may be a tough trip if your work schedule will be tough next year. They have not announced location for next year yet.

USAT has so many national championships every year I get confused which is which

Do you mean the one in Omaha?

Agreed on the “too many Nationals” but I’m talking about the only one that really matters IMO which is Age Group Nationals in Atlantic City.

Anyone have intel? Seems like it should have been announced by now.

Per their own RPF sheet the deadline was July and the announcement was supposed to be September:

Doesn’t this suggest they didn’t get any good bids? Or maybe they don’t want to make an announcement until they have registration up and ready and there needs to be some IT work done before they do that.

We can speculate all day, but I have a feeling people were pretty turned off after AC. I didn’t race it, but can’t imagine it being even a quarter of what the event is in Milwaukee. As much as I hate to say it, just make it permanent in Milwaukee. It’s an incredible venue.

Why is that the only one that matters?

Innovation Bad, OG Format better I suppose is the line of thought.

Surprised they didnt have it back to back in the same location. Its been that way the last 25 years, and in some cases it’s been 3 in a row at the same spot. Maybe they weren’t too confident in Atlantic City? They’ve always been late with these announcements.

The Atlantic City championships were well organized and flowed pretty well. That said, Atlantic City is pretty grubby. There was a constant smell of pot as you were running on the boardwalk :face_vomiting:.

Indeed. I live 5 min outside Atlantic City, and even I am kind of hoping it goes back to Milwaukee. The boardwalk will never get ungross. And I’ve never had a race there where I didn’t have to yell at drunk/high wanderers that strayed in front of me on the run (despite the course being roped off)

Maybe they are waiting to see how T100 Las Vegas goes? That could be like Milwaukee last year: pair a PTO event with AG nationals. Could be awesome!

That’s too good of an idea, so it couldn’t possibly make sense.

Exactly

The USAT Events team is in Las Vegas this weekend. Maybe they are confirming the T100 location for the Age Group NC.

Combining with T100 in Milwaukee made for an extremely fun weekend. I sincerely hope they are working on an event combination similar to that.

I am not a fan of the September date. Definitely in favor of going back to August.

Las Vegas in August would be brutal hot though. Could be 107 on race day.

In the PTN interview, they didn’t say anything like this, but my impression reading between the lines is they are looking at doing a combo race with USAT Nationals or the Multisport Nationals.

I think the difficulty is that USAT would probably like to have all that race revenue, and T100 is trying to build up their race revenue. So why would USAT Nationals risk losing entries to T100? Now, maybe they’ll offer all three – spring, olympic, and T100 formats. If the timing was right, I’d still sign up for them all. I wonder how many others feel that way though?

I had the same thought the other day. I think I’d be interested in doing all three. Maybe if there was a day break somewhere in between?

I always thought that the American Triple-T race weekend sounded fun. They go shortest to longest. The Olympic then sprint format of Nationals works quite well though for just those two.
