I have been wearing some custom team bib shorts by voler and louis garneau. they cost me about 40 or 45 a pair. they are getting really worn out now and need replacing. does anyone know where i can get some good bib shorts? the ones from voler i wore and really liked used the cantara pad - but that is all i know about the construction of the short.
“The Cantara pad has a baseball cut design with strategically placed seams. Featuring an an anti-microbial Airstripe center panel and Alcantara perforated side panels for superior wicking and drying capabilities. The result is a form-fitting pad which minimizes chafing.”
(if that means anything).
so basically, does anyone know any good deals out there for good bib shorts. i don’t want to spend much more than 65 or 70 because i need to get 2 or 3 pairs. and if i get a really fancy pair i’ll never want to wear my other shorts again.
where can i find these? i can only seem to find the power bib tri short, which isn’t really what i’m looking for, I want something cycling specific. Thanks!
Bellwhether (a division of Profile Design) is the leader in value priced **stretch chamois pad **design shorts. they have a sub-$80 short with a stretch chamois pad, the least expensive in the industry, that has a nice pattern, fits well and is overall very nice.
Tom D. - I think you meant Bellweather not Bellwhether. I did not know that they were still around. I used to really like my Bellweather bibs as they were my first pair of bibs and my first pair without a real leather chamois.
i agree, but the titano, which i figured out is the short i’ve been wearing, is on closeout and only available in green violet or royal blue (in my size). i’m a black shorts type of guy… if they were in black i would have bought a few pairs!
Pace. I believe they are mede in SoCal. They are relatively inexpensive. I have a pair of the shorts. Very comfy, even on my old bike with the SLR saddle. I’m considering the bibs.
I have the De Soto bibs. they have a tri pad, but I’ve used them for centuries and Dr Dre’ uses them for his doubles (on a Brooks).
I also have some clearance Santini twist-gel from Bicycling Hub. I’ve used them for a coupe of centuries. $89.
The less easy answer is to buy two pair of Assos shorts, and wear them for three or four times as long. My pair of Assos shorts is STARTING to show some signs of wear, now that they have about 10,000 miles or so on them…
Everytime I buy something made by Assos, I have this serious moment of hesitation. “Is it really worth it?” I ask myself. And then, as soon I go for a ride in whatever it is was, I realize, “yes, it is.”
Performancebike.com They did all the US national team stuff for years. Great quality, cheap prices and if something goes wrong, like a stitching coming undone, they will replace them for free.
