Affordable and "works" warmup ice vest suggestions

I’m trying this out this year. Cooling vest before starting. Looking for $100 or less preferably. Bonus if I could get two for that price.

I know folks do it now, so wondering which Amazon products you’ve gotten that you liked.

There was a guy on here years back that was an expert in this for the military and told a triathlete it would NOT work during a run/bike ride as you had probably 40min max time before it was melted and warmed up. At which point it becomes an insulator instead of cooler.

So this is just for race prep. I may also use it for Zwift workouts once winter ends.

Not quite what you’re after, but I’ve successfully used something like this on the run leg in hot races, and also once indoors for a group TT, where I knew it was going to get hot. Soak beforehand and leave in a ziplock. Good for about 60-90 mins on its own, or as long as you want if keep chucking water over it at aid stations.

Warm up with just the bottom of your suit on, then take it off, then pull your suit up.

You rock. Thanks.

That’s pretty much spot on.

This (well, whatever amazon copy) is what I use, I think it works great so long as you’re ok with being slightly damp yourself (or your skinsuit) and is a lot less hassle than the ones where you need to transport it + the cooling accessories to slide in.

*edit - if lowering core temp is the goal, the cheap/easy (and tasty) thing you can do is stop on the way to the race and buy a big slushy. That works better than most of the easily available external options, I’ve started races in TN/SC in August heat and the beating sun shivering after taking a slush puppy to the dome.

Nice, thank you! This has been on my to-do list.
