Rather depends on what bars you’re running. I could get about 3 computers and an serodrink on mine if I felt the need. Suggest you describe your setup or post pics.
Are you able to mount your computer on the stem? This is what works best for my set up (Vision cockpit on one bike and PD Cobra Wing/PD Carbon Strykes on other). I use the Cateye Micro Wireless cyclocomputer on both.
I use what I think is the computer mount you mentioned with no problems. I do have to move the mount up and out of the way to get the bottle in and out, but that’s no big deal. I’m not sure what you mean by it getting in the way of your arms. I mounted mine kind of up closer to my hands and it isn’t in my way at all, and I can see it easily in an aero position with out having to look too far down.
I also use a Profile clamp wrapped around the stem. It puts the computer a little bit off to the side, but still pretty readable. My last Ciclomaster 436M had an awesome stem mount that put it right up front. Why other computer manufacturers don’t do this is incredibly stupid IMO.
Funny, I was going to post the exact same question today. I can’t seem to fit the aerodrink and computer (Sigma BC1606, wired) on my Vision TT bars either. Ran a race with the computer mounted off the side of the left bar, but that was no good. It made choke up my grip, at least on my left side, and that made everything feel off-kilter.

If I mount it in between the aero bars then it gets in the way of the aerodrink. Sounds like this is what you do but you rotate the mount to get the aerodrink in and out.
That might work for mine but I’m trying to do the same with a second bike (wife) with shorter aero bars and I think both bottle and computer won’t fit in the middle. They are too short.
If I mount the computer not in the middle of the bars (outside) then it sticks up enought that it hits my arms, plus I can’t see it
This is the mounting knob I was talking about (Profile Design UCM):
I have other complaints about the Polar CS200 (primarily that the cadence sensor/transmitter sucks), but the one REALLY nice thing about it is that the bracket allows you to mount it either way so I’ve got in on my stem. It’s hard to describe, but the computer fits into a circular bracket and can lock in at up/down or side-to-side.
If you already have your computer, this won’t help, but maybe it will be useful for other people.
The cateye micro wireless comes with a stem mount so to answer your question, “No, it’s not mounted sideways or on an angle.”
So does the PowerTap computer. I like the stem mount so much that I set my aerobarless road bike up with the computer on the stem too.
Thanks for all the responses so far.
I’m hoping not to have to mount it sideways on the stem but I might have to resign myself to that.
Maybe I’ll have to see if there is some way I can cut off most of the mount then zip tie it to the stem.
Has anyone tried the Cateye aerobar mount? I was hoping it would be able to mount on the stem but from the picture it looks iffy. It looks like it will raise the computer up and move it to one side which isn’t so great for stem mounting.
Pic of aerobar mount from trisports.com (the cateye site doesn’t seem to have a reasonable picture).
Some of the Sigma computers have a rotating mount. Some Specialized computers have a mount that attaches to your stem cap.
Yup, stem is the best option. You can use zipties in some cases, or even rubber bands or o-rings (like sigma) to jury-rig a stem mount. I used various computers sideways for years, not a big deal, until I got one of the rotating Sigmas.
Issimo designs makes a mount called the Nob XL you can mount it on the stem, retails for about $10. It allows you to mount your computer straight, similar to the PD mount, but with a bigger easier strapping system.
