I wanted to ask how people go about buying a new tt helmet.
I’ve read numerous articles and know that fit and speed gains are very dependent on rider and position, so how to choose then, just order a couple helmets online and test for fit on a stationary bike?

Curious what process is been used.
There are people that test and share results. What you hear is a few helmets do well a lot of the time. So if you’re not going to test, the probability is they will do well for you. Helmets like the Aerohead or the LGP09 fall in that category.
Hot/cool and “it fits my big melon” can be found in the threads.
IMO, the whole “looking at a picture I can tell if that helmet is fast” is BS.
I have never tested the Jetstream. I think Desert Dude wanted to.
But so far there seems to be so little data on it that it would be hard to say “tests well (or poorly) on a lot of people”
I am lucky that for me the P09 tests well with Sunglasses
Does the PO9 usually test faster with glasses instead of visor? I use the visor.
For me, it tests the same but I find it more comfortable with glasses.
The only other person I remember testing it with is LS and it was marginally faster with visor for him. But looking back at the numbers, it was really close, probably within margin or error.
I actually went all in on this a while back - bought a notio and a few helmets that I thought would work. Tested them and kept the one I liked the most. Sold the others. Bit of an investment but happy with the result.
I have a Jetstream. I like it but it wobbles around my head and the nose bridge of the eye shield hits my nose a lot when I’m riding, it ends up hurting and bleeding. Not sure if I just need to tighten the helmet or if other people have this issue. I bought a small because I have a small head.
We tested many different materials in the wind tunnel last week. Including a few helmets. The difference can be quite big depending on your position. The best helmet is really person and position specific.
The results differ per individual. For example, the POC Cerebel helmet was the fastest on one triathlete, but not on another triathlete. It all depends on your position and physique.
But we have measured a difference of up to 7 Watt when using different time trial helmets. (when testing at 40 km/h)

So I watched the video looking for information, what value did I get out of it ? I want my 7 minutes back
It is true that results are individual, but you do see trends which is why it is interesting to share and see other’s results.
Well … since this is an aero helmet thread:
On athlete A and C he Kask Evo Pro was the fastest
On athlete B the POC Cerebel was the fastest.
(At 40 km/h, of the 3 helmets we tested)
So I don’t see a trend;-)
And I don’t think you can conclude many general things that apply to everyone.
I need a new lid. Tried the Rudy Wing but pain in ass to get on and just didn’t “feel†good on so I sold it.
I recently bought a Wing, and at first it was really difficult to get on. But I eventually figured out the trick to getting it on quickly. I can’t just pull it on straight down like most helmets, I have to sort of slide it on horizontally from the back. Its not as comfortable as my old Advantage 2, but its not uncomfortable…
