Aero bottles 2025

i am looking into buying an aero bottle for my Canyon Speedmax - any suggestions? If possible i’d like >500ml capacity and it shouldn’t fall off on the slightest cobblestone section.
Looking forward to any opinion - here is my loose list so far:

  • Elite Crono: 500ml. Cheap, used by “everybody”, low build quality and keeps falling off according to reviews
  • Xlab Aero TT: 510ml. Expensive, higher quality, decade old design / questionable aesthetics (doesn’t matter, i know)
  • Trek RSL Aero: 590ml. Expensive. Interesting concept (regular-ish bottleholder which can also hold regular round bottles in training), but expensive and seems wider than the others (=less aero)
  • Canyon FUEL: 650ml. magnetic holder (i wonder how robust this is?)
  • Profile Design RZ3: 510ml. Looks solid - no other mentionable characteristics (maybe that’s a good thing?)

I don’t own any of these, but I have seen these canyon ones fly off at train tracks a lot. I would steer clear.

Things that never happened…

Take the Elite and put some layers of tape on the inside of the holder. Ideally the tape has a texture and not a smooth surface. That normally does the job. On my Speedmax I had never any problems with the Elite dropping bottles.

And if it doesn’t work for you, at least it was cheap…

@heiko …this, but instead of tape I use some strips of velcro. 2 fold…helps keep the bottle from going air mail, and helps with the rattling sound from road vibration.

Is the speedfil F1 considered an aero hydration solution? Anne haug used it in for Nice and Ibiza T100. Not sure if she is yet using it.
Is there some dependency on frame size with this one?

2x skateboard grip tape

Well she probably didn’t use it in Nice :joy::joy::joy:

The Canyon magnetic bottles are brilliant and rock solid-they clip on easily magnetically and don’t come off without a deliberate twist-there is a locking mechanism.

I find it very hard to believe that anyone has had one come off going over train tracks, I reckon Nick above has them confused with the Elite bottles.

2nd this! Mine has been bomb proof!

ARUNDEL Chrono II 600ml Water Bottle.

Slightly larger capacity than the Elite. I’ve subjected my TT bike to some rough roads and it has never ejected.

+1 for xlab aero TT here. I immediately tossed the awful bottle that came with my p-series and replaced it with this one. It’s secure and the top of the bottle is textured which is nice when it’s a long reach.

I have this. It’s the best of the aero bottles in my opinion. Holds on securely doesn’t leak a lot.

I have no problems using a Cervello Aero Bottle on my Venge.

Additionally, does anyone know how wide the Canyon FUEL Aero Bottle is?

I have an rz3 as well. I’ve tried a few different ones and this one has been the best.

Had an elite but disappeared while transporting my bike on my rack. Didn’t like it anyway.

Anyone try mounting an RZ3 upside down as a BTA? Does the bottle stay in the cage over bumps?

Any other comments on leakage for this (or others)? I have a Cervelo P5x and the Aliexpress bottle that I mount horizontally above the BB leaks a bunch. For my first full this summer I’d like to fill that bottle with Gels but need something that definitely won’t leak (you can see I tape over the bottle port to stop leaking until I start drinking).

I haven’t found a good aero option for that horizontal mounting position. I ended up just taking that storage container off and using the more vertical bottle.mount position on my p3x
