Aero benefits from Tririg Omega rear brake

Will replacing my rear brake (fsa side pull) on my 2008 P3 with the Omega-x save me many watts?

Any, probably. Many, probably not.

The rear brake is not nearly as important as the front and the area behind the seat isn’t usually where there are big gains. I seem the remember the draft box on the SPeed Concept, which does a nice job of extending the airfoil, only being worth a watt or two.

That being said, the rear brake placement on the P3 looked like it really messed up a very smooth airfoil and you get a few inches of exposed cable. My wild add guess is going to be 1.5 watts.

Thanks mike. It does look really messy. That’s why I was inquiring.

I put a matching one thr back of my Venge. Can’t hurt.

I wouldn’t do it. There, I saved you some money.

I would do this if you want to spend the money. It does clean up the cable run and it is a cleaner looking brake. I’ve never had any issues with the TriRig brakes and I have 4 of them on various bikes.

I will see if I can take a picture of the rear on my P2C for you. It is a very clean and tidy looking set up.

I have them on the front and rear of my old P2.

Classic slowtwitch. First post a picture about how ridiculous it is. Then the next day, “Oh yeah, I do that.”

Chill. I was making a joke about the watt savings knowing that I did it to my bike too. I like things to match so that’s why I have 2 Omega X’s.

The intended tone, there, was friendly. I do things like that all the time.

I didn’t do it on my P3: put a tririg on the front but couldn’t justify the cost for the rear.

Can’t see it would make any measurable difference. Bit like ceramic bearings.

If you want to spend to make you feel good do it but it won’t make you faster.

I’m running a rear Omega X (bb) on my Shiv - don’t really care much for the aero benefit, but do like having matched brakesets, and most importantly made a night and day difference in lever feel. Really snappy return spring, similar to my road bike. And nicely matched to the front Omega X. The stock rear brake was a pile of mush.
