Anyone have any insight into a 32 spoke count rim that is at least slightly aero? I want to lace a Powertap up and don’t want to use the box rim Open Pro, unless necessary.
Thanks.

Ride for a Zipp sponsored team. Have had a set of 32 spoke Zipp 303 and 404 clincher rims built up on Campy Record hubs as training wheels for 4 years. The same hubs actually. Two years on the 303 and then the last 2 years on the dimpled 404 rims. Very strong and aero. They also make a backup set of racing wheels, or your only wheels if need be. A teammate has had my old 303 rims laced up to Ultegra hubs and has been training on them and using them for crits for 2 years, so that 4 years those rims have seen hard miles.
Our experience is that the Zipp clincher rims in 32 hole are completely bullit proof. Would highly recommend them. Pictures of each below.

ttracer has the best answer, but you could also go for a 30mm aluminium rim, like the Mavic cxp30 I’ve got. Not light, but bombproof.
I thought that you coudl get a power tap in 20 24 and 32 lacing (unless you already have the 32 tap)
.
Velocity’s Deep-V should do the trick:
Velocity’s Deep-V should do the trick:
http://www.velocityusa.com/default.asp?contentID=583 link now clickable. i second the velocity suggestion. i built up a 32-spoke front wheel with the velocity fusion. the deep v, fusion, and aerohead are all aero, vary in sturdiness. i’m really pleased with the bomb-proofness of my wheel, even though it’s a first-ever wheel build it’s been quite sturdy. -charles
Why don’t you just use an open pro and a disc cover from wheelbuilder.com?
Nimble ‘fly’ comes in a 32 spoke version
velocity aerohead for shallow V and deep V for deep (both come in nearly all colors under the rainbow and the aeroheads are as light as an open pro.
