Advice on Good GPS Running Watch under $200?

I’m thinking about buying one each for my wife and myself. I’ve looked at other websites, but I thought I’d check ST for some opinions. Yeah, yeah, I used the search engine. Any suggestions about decent GPS watches?

Will you use it on the treadmill?

Since you are asking in a Triathlon Forum, I’d suggest the Garmin 310. You can usually get it for around $180. You can swim with it, bike with it, and run with it.

That said, I upgraded to the 910 for triathlons, and the 620 when just running.

Garmin forerunner 210 is easily found for <$200 now that the newest version is out. I use it as my every day running watch (have a Garmin edge 500 on the bike, no need for a multisport watch). It’s been great. The new 220 has way more features but as a pure running watch, the 210 is fine. It even has a few special edition colors that may peak your interest. Just search amazon.

That isn’t a priority. I read a couple of reviews that mentioned that question as well.

If you want very basic, the Forerunner 10. It pretty much just does time and distance (no HR) but it’s small and simple and works well.

If you’re willing to spend a little more the Garmin 220 is by far the best running watch on the market. It has vibration alerts, water proofed, customizeable screens, gets signal fast, and extremely light.

The cheaper alternative is the 210. I used this watch for 3 years and have recommended it to my athletes. The best bang for the buck running watch.

garmin 220 for a touch more. great watch.

Smart phone + app. Maybe not under $200, but I already have one anyway.

I’d go 220 as well - but if you’re gona be doing anything other than running - I’d really recommend a 910XT.

You can throw it on your bike with a proper mount and it’s as good as the cycling computers, and you can run with it too. Bought mine 2 years ago and I use it for literally everything, including weight circuits.

Getting two might be a bit painful on the old wallet though
