Ive been trying a few different (training) shoes lately after falling in love (yes, in love!) with my Type A2’s.
Ive tried virtually every saucony neutral shoe out there, but I still like my good old Adidas Supernova Cushion 7’s more for training.
So am I the only person that prefers a pair of cheap Adidas to the more expensive saucony’s?
Adidas Bostons are my favorite shoe of all time. Supernova classics were a little narrow for me, but still a great neutral shoe. Pegasus are way to soft (done @ 150miles). New balance were on the stiff side, Asics a little too much/high arch support. Love my adidas Cubato racers as well, although I dont get many races out of them before they are packed out.
My favorite shoes (currently made) are the Pearl line. They all fit pretty similar, but seem to be a good compromise between having cushion and not breaking down at 200miles. I routinely get 400+ miles out of pearls. I only get ~250 from adidas. Pearls are a little heavyer than bostons or supernovas, but I’m a train heavy, race light kinda guy (Racers are too darn expensive to be training in anyway). No hot spots, and wide enough toe box for hobbit feet like mine.
There are many, many good shoes out there for <100 bucks. Find a shoe that works and stick with it!
Too much shoe for me.
I do like the Adizero PR and RC.
I’m thinking about a Mana or A2 for halfs and marys, but I may just go with the RC.
Try running a little in Teva Protons then the PRs. They will feel like a cushion shoe after the Proton.
Thierry runs 2+ hours in Protons, on rocky trails and hard surfaces, but he’s an animal.
I like my Adistar XT zero trail shoes. They’re very light and great in all conditions except concrete but who cares when you’re running in trail shoes.
Never was a big fan of adidas footwear, love the running gear!!! That being said I just bought a pair of Adidas Adizero Ace running shoes. Wanted a light weight racing shoe. Have always raced in a light weight trainer. Tried then out a few times on the treadmill for some speedwork. Very nice and light can hardly wait to race them in a half marathon end of April…PR baby here I come. Hopefully followed up by a sub 1:30 run at a half IM in June.
I have a pair of Supernova cushions, they just don’t feel right to me. I did one or two training runs in them and went back to my New Balance’s. I have plenty of love for Adidas apparel, but their running shoes just don’t seem to work for me.
You are my new best friend. The Adidas supernova cushion 7 is my favorite shoe! If I had to pick a shoe to run in for the rest of my life, it would be this shoe. If I am being realistic though it is the runner not the shoe that is fast. If you are fast it does not matter what shoe you run in, you will still be fast.
x4 for Supernova Cushions, I am currently trying to find a new pair on sale as they are expensive over here $140! I used to love the climacool trail too but now that they have taken over Salomon I have plenty of choice in trail shoes with the same fit.
Adidas have a lot of “fashion” shoes but have always retained a good core of running shoes like the Supernova and the Adizero range and if they fit your foot they are a great brand.
I tried lots of different top racing shoes (Mizuno Wave Universe , Asics Gel-DS Racer VII, Puma Complete Road Racer, etc.), but nothing can beat Adidas Adizero PR. I use them for triathlons and all road races up to a marathon. BTW, I recently got a third pair of Adizero PRs. Adidas adiZero RC are among my favorite shoes for trainig. FYI, I’m a forefoot runner and Adidas shoes seem to fit me really well.
