I have a P4 and the fairing water bottle is just not convenient. curious if anyone has drilled holes into the down tube and added screws to support a down tube water bottle.

IIRC the Cervelo Test Team has done this very thing. i’ve seen images of their bikes running conventional water bottles/ cages
Did yours come with the holes for mounting a bracket? Do you have a 09 or 10? I have a very early production version.
between aerobar bottle and deal with the inconvenience during races. xlab for the rear for training.

I was thinking one higher up on the down tube. Like where it is on my P2.
Rear is fine and/or in my shirt. I have not used water bottle between bars. Something I need to actually try.
I have also thought of trying to invent something that fit between the aerobars but had a straw that you could raise and lower.

Actually I would be too scared. I was thinking about having the LBS do it but guess not a good idea.
I actually plan on training mostly on my P2 and race and train to a lesser extent on the P4. So maybe it will work. Guess we will have to see this summer.
I believe that’s an Elite Time Trial Kit. I think the matching bottle is 500ml.
What about modifying the “frame stiffener” or so that a cage could be attached on top of that and the bottle would sit horizontally? If you wreck the stiffener you’re out $40 instead of $4000.
side note: I couldn’t find a single picture of the bike with the frame stiffener or the spare tire box to guess if this would actually work.
