i realize that you need sponsors for this page, and i am willing to be visually bombarded by all sorts of flashy, busy, overwhelming ads if that means i get access to the forum.
however, i don’t understand why this new ad on the main page (which i never allow to get farther than “human propulsion” before clicking on “forum”, so i don’t even know what it’s advertising) needs to include sound. many of your regulars browse the forum while at work. the audio component of the ad, as you can imagine, is not only annoying but also a potential problem.
if you say “that’s the way it’s gotta be”, then i’m okay with that. still, i humbly submit that perhaps it would be better to ask the advertiser to eliminate sound from their ad.
when i place the ad and found out there was (minimal) sound embedded in the file, i wrote and asked that a duplicate banner be provided with the sound excluded. i expect it to arrive in due time. thx.
the front page, unlike “playboy”, is something that i read for the articles

i’m a 1st year grad student. until i need to find a lab, i have no boss. but i was embarrassed when i visited slowtwitch while in the computer lab and the whole lab got to hear heavy breathing; this got me thinking about how bad things must be for the 9to5ers.

hah, I’m listening to internet radio and everytime I visit the forum I’m like “what the hell is that background beat” I don’t mind though, just turn your volume down. Also that ad is worth checking out, the new Nathan product line is really really nice! I’m using another brand personally but they have a sweet 2006 line.
No offense, but this forum is pretty cool, it’s free and it has really really minimal banner ads compared to pretty much any other site on the net. Have you been to cyclingnews or pezcycling news lately;)

my only beef is with the audio. and even that’s not a beef, it’s just a consideration for those slowtwitchers who are surfing and don’t want audio.
this was supposed to be a polite, well-intentioned thread. let’s not get contrary.
