Hmmm, that’s the bra I was going to suggest. Are you in the proper size? I used to chafe in the same spot with the Frog Bra by title nine, but the Fiona doesn’t give me any issues. Granted my long run is 4 miles!
Every time I do a run over 13 miles, I end up with mortal wounds on the front of my rib cage where the band lies.
I bought the Moving Comfort Fiona because reviews said it resisted chafing, but it still happens.
And yes, I use body glide. Tons of it. I can’t imagine how bad it would be if I didn’t.
I’m a 34C and I need something with some decent support. I’m willing to spend some money if it will stop wreaking havoc on my skin.
Help!
I was going to suggest a Moving Comfort bra too. I like the seamless bra by Champion that wicks. I don’t chafe in the chest so I can’t tell you about how anti-chafing it is but have you ever considered using ky instead of Body Glide? It works much better than Body Glide because it really does stick.
This might sound odd but I use a “personal lubricant” Wet Platinum - it has silicone in it so it stays put - no chafing issues for me now.
Not odd at all. I use Wet Platinum too and it work like a charm, especially on the feet.
I am the chafing queen! I have a seamless patagonia sports bra I’ve done all my long races and the bulk of my long runs in for the last five years because it’s the only one I’ve found that doesn’t remove all the skin under the front band.
I’ve been looking to find another bra for the past five years with little success. I recently found a Nike seamless bra that I think will do the trick. I haven’t done more than 1.5 hours in it yet but it seems good so far. I couldn’t find the style on the Nike site, otherwise I’d give you the name.
If you find something that works, please share as I’m always looking for suggestions.
same here…I’ve actually never chafed under the band in front, but often will get two spots on my back where the band is & two small spots where the top of the bra sits/rubs/hits on the “upbounce”. The heart rate monitor seems to be the largest contributor if/when I chafe on the band area.
I tend to just go for the champion bras from target…the skinny strap ones seem to be my best results - though they really only smash my boobs down, they do nothing to actually support them!! I have yet to find the ideal solution - I have a broad ribcage (36-38) but short torso & hover between B/C…the typical band makes it hurt to breathe! Ah well…Poor girls.
I have the best luck with triathlon specific bras. I like the Zoot bra tops and I love one from Oomph that I got cheap off of eBay. NO chafing whatsoever.
I’ve had luck with Shock Absorber -the one for running. I was just checking out the website from my work computer and I was blocked since the web contains “pornography”. LOL. I’m a 34D and it it holds me in quite well. I do apply bodyglide for a long run mind you.
There is an under armor bra that I really like it has a slight v-neck. I have scars from chafing over the years but this one doesn’t chafe at all. Hope this helps because I totally get the pain. Plus it makes it hard to wear sun dresses with the nasty chafing marks.
I have a small back and (natural) D cup, so I need all the help I can get to fight gravity. I am also a heavy sweater, so I had a hard time finding a bra that worked for me when I started running. I then found Under Armor. They make a special C/D support bra. Cons - its ugly and only comes in black or white. Pros - I’ve had no issues with rubbing (with a smidge of Glide under my arms) and they hold up well in the washer/dryer. I especially like the one with the zip-up front - easy to get out of when you’re all sweaty. Good luck!
I’ve not had any problem with chafing and I wear the De Soto Forza Bra. I would suspect you’re wearing a size that is too big that is causing it to rub. I don’t use any sort of lubrication or body glide but my De Soto bra is tight - very tight actually and I like it that way to provide support.
Personally, I prefer running tops with built in bras. I’ve had far too many chafing issues over the years and find that the built in bras are much more comfortable. I love the Nike running tops with built in bras.
