A Return to Innocence for The Tour de France? Perhaps... (audio Link)

Thoughts on a brighter Tour de France than we’ve seen in many years:

.

Here is a thought: take a second and answer one of my numerous pm’s or emails - this is getting ridiculous Tom.

I know we discussed this before, but I believe we are simply on the down cycle of the battle between cheaters and rulemakers. Last year the rulemakers/testers won a few battles and caught some people, but as with any situation, the riders adapted. The money and all the motivation to cheat is still there. I don’t believe for a minute they are any cleaner this year than any other year. And frankly, I don’t care. It was still a highly entertaining Tour De France.

Done- sorry.

Done- sorry.
Tom-

I respect you, what you’ve been through and what you’ve done/accomplished. But I keep seeing many many people complain about late shipments, spotty communications, etc. I’m going to be buying some stuff this winter (Trainer, wheels, etc.), and quite honestly, I probably won’t buy from your store due to this.

I like your postings, your editorials and voice on things, but maybe a little less emphasis on the extraneous postings/editorials, and a little more on minding the home fires?

John

Truth be told sir, while the compalints are valid, we see an odd proportion of them surface on this forum.

Here is my recommendation for anyone with a question concerning Bikesport: Phone the store at (313) 278 1350. It is the quickest way to have any questions or issues resolved.

Thats really bold Tom. You have promised to get back to me on the issue, but not one response after at least 10 pm’s and emails. Now you respond here with a shrug, and with a pm that shows that you just don’t care. Why?

Hmm. I’m not *certain *either. I’d like to believe the race is clean… or *cleaner. *There is a sinister element to this, and that is some covert initiative to simply not “allow” positive tests- just don;t process or publsih the findings.

Now, there is absolutely no precedent for a concealment of positive tests. None that I am aware of- so if the Tour says no positives… then no positives.

Sir, with respect, here is my understanding of the matter, and please correct me if I am wrong:

  1. The seat clamp on your bike is broken.
  2. I just sent you a PM indicating that I will send you a new one for free.
  3. I do not have your address on my desk so I will need that information to send you the seat clamp.

If this information is incorrect please let me know.

Additionally, the best place to reach the store for an inquiry is (313) 278 1350.

I have been over this with you in the end of may / beginning of june: My Felt DA has cracked in the metal insert in the seat tube, not the “rear” clamp-part. As the insert is part of the frame, it’s an framereplacement issue as you said yourself in a pm in the beginning of june.

I did not understand the issue. Can you phone the store and we can resolve it? The number is (313) 278 1350.

If you have not read this, you should. Doping has always been part of the Tour de France. And likely always will be.

Now, there is absolutely no precedent for a concealment of positive tests. None that I am aware of- so if the Tour says no positives… then no positives.

Do you think Tour officials would tell us if there had been concealment in the past?

Chad

I also juswt phoned the manufacturer alerting them to a possible issue pending my better understanding of the matter. I await your call Sir. (313) 278 1350.

I would suggest the Tour de France organization understands the damage that was done by the positive tests and resultant discrediting of the event over the previous years. I wager they’ve taken steps to step up detecton and pro-actively tried to exclude riders and teams from the event that may further discredit the event.

My take on it is that they have succeeded this year. I hope it is a trend we see continue.
