A question on color?

What three colour combos would make the best looking semi-custom cycling/tri club uniforms? The logo will likely be black, or white depending on base colours.

Choices are basically limitless, just want to get a sense on what the greater tri community finds attractive.

They’re got some great examples of custom uniforms that will hell you decide what looks good together.

I personally think triathlon is long on red and blue, and short on green, orange, violet… (basically everything else).

If you are indeed color-challenged and have to design this yourself, see if your library has a book called “The Designer’s Guide to Color Combinations: 500+ Historic and Modern Color Formulas in CMYK” by Leslie Cabarga. There is a section on limited color (4 or less color) designs. The book gives the color formulas in CMYK, which should aid your designer or the manufacturer.

Thanks, I definitely do not have a good sense of color-combos… the club I have been involved with has used blue/black/white in the past, but are getting into new uni’s, weren’t happy with the old so I am just looking to see what would be appealing to a wide audience. I would think the blue/red mentioned above is probably my answer, but as stated, a bit ‘common’. But keep the suggestions coming, they’re helpful for sure.

I agree that red, blue, and black are overused. However I really like our team kit. Looks better in person, especially the bike jerseys. Graphics are really clean. Scroll down for team pic in tri gear.

mine that i race in now is the one of belmont wheel works in boston’s uniforms, got it from my coach that works there.
it is black with lime green fading to yellow.

here is a pic. i think the pattern needs some work but those are the colors.

Yep, I would vote for this too. Our old bike team jerseys (and my tri kit for the same sponsor) were black and red on white, made by voler and really good (imho)

A strong Green looks good, similar to BRG for cars, although the edges of any font needed to be outlined e.g. white font with black outline or black font with a white outline.
