I want to start riding to work. One problem, I need to ferry my laptop back and forth. Any suggestions for a bomb-proof backpack/carrying case that will keep my laptop safe from the elements and any bumps and bruises?
I have a TimBuk2 messenger bag I am very happy with. The make one for laptops.
It’s hard to beat Mountainsmith for durability and functionality in this dept. I have an eight year old “Day” lumbar pack that when washed is identical to a new one except for a couple of snags on the mesh water bottle pockets. Oh yeah, the elastic cords are starting to deegrade due to age. Completely bomb proof. I also have an older and larger version of this bag:
Also bomb proof, I us it once or twice a week to commute with when i need to pick up some groceries on the way home. I routinely stick a 12 pack in there on a friday night. A case would fit, but I don’t need that much. Check them out lots of good product.
Honestly? I worry more about serious damage to myself or my bike, before I worry about my laptop. Invest in lots of lights, dayglo gear and a good helmet.
I load my work onto a flash drive and stick it in my pocket.
