A local coach lied to me WTF

Why does my Spidey sense tell me this is going to get ugly?? What with basically identifying the guy, calling him a liar, and allegations of EPO use??

If the sole purpose of this thread is to trash the guy, then I really don’t see any benefit for you.

Oh no, I guess I better offer something better than beer.

Dave

I only mentioned the allegations because thats the buzz around abq, perhaps I shouldnt have brought it to ST.

According to Todder’s post, it seems like you are the one who is in the wrong…

Okay, SO I was talking to this coach , I used to be a part of that team but left because i had other goals for myself. A few days ago, I see the coach and he tells me he won the deuces wild 1/2 IM and the xterra race…So, I check results and see that not only did he not win the 1/2, he didnt even win his AG, he got 3rd. Furthermore, it was the same story for the xterra. Just thought I would throw this out there in case he has told anybody else similar shit.
Perhaps you are at fault? Did he express the year in which he won. Did you automatically assume it was this year…

Aren’t we all winners just for trying:)
.

Yep, everyone to the starting line is a WINNER in my book. And who cares if someone lied about what they did.
How does the lie impact you? Why does everything in life have to be competitive? Why can we not just be supportive
of others? Do you think it will really matter on your death bed?

Dave

My former masters swim coach, Peter Daland, was the Head Olympic Swim Coach in 1972 at the Munich Games. Starting from the '56 Olympics through the '92 he had at least one of his swimmers from his college or club team (USC/Trojan) win an Olmpic gold medal. Some were from the US, some were from other countries. Some gold medals came from individual swims some from relays.

One of the little pleasures he enjoyed was to be at some function and to be introduced to someone. And that someone would say they had been a swimmer on the US Olympic Swim Team from such and such a time or an Olympic trials qualifier. His repsonse was always: “REALLY, NOW?”

Man, I’m learning more and more that people make up the most ridiculous stories. I used to think it was just car culture when that was my main hobby, but I guess its just everything.

I’m certain that when I talk cars with some people that they assume I am making stuff up…haha, if I start winning tris some day it will be the same.

My god you flip flop more than a dying fish. What about your black and white view of the world? Who cares if someone lies? Because it’s a LIE. And this is a COACH? Who, I’m assuming, has some stature or responsibility in the community. What if the entire world lied all the time about everything?

Time for more coffee and a massage.

“Time for more coffee and a massage.”

it’s not that i disagree with your sentiment, but you really think it’s time for more coffee

I do not use drugs.

Dave

agreed. A lie is a lie. It’s horrible a coach who makes their living at this business would lie about it. These days its so easy to follow up, google provides all. But coach or no coach people do this all the time and its wrong.

On the same lines though, aren’t we all winners in our own category? Maybe he was the first coach, with 5 clients racing that day, that lives on his block, in his age group, riding red tires, with rudy project sunglasses and wearing a giro helmet to finish?

Get what I’m saying… everyone is a winner in their own category

Everyone is a winner that enters, IMO. At least my family considers me a winner, no matter what
time or place I complete a race. The boss just tells me no more swim, bike, ambulance races.

Dave

“Get what I’m saying… everyone is a winner in their own category”

Ok, I’m claiming a big win in Sunday’s race at Lubbock, I’ll let you know the category on Monday.

Not everyone who enters is a winner.

But everyone who enters, has prepared themselves properly, and improved themselves is a winner =)

Those people who enter, didn’t prepare or improve, have hopefully learned something but are not winners, yet =)

So, if you do not get 1st overall, does your family and friends consider you just a loser then?

Dave

I don’t understand the question. I made no comment about what makes someone a loser or about friends and family

=)

That’s funny— I wonder why he lied. Personally, I think all of the results talk after races is annoying. My answer is almost always the same “I did pretty well.” I don’t like to brag when I do well, and I definitely don’t want to rehash a bad race.

If he volunteered that he did that well he’s a tool, but if you asked him what his results were and he was annoyed by the Q, any response is justified. You can lie to someone who is annoying you— Especially if that lie annoys them back.

You said

"Not everyone who enters is a winner. "

So, by whose definition? Yours, your family, ST?

I believe everyone who enters is a winner. Based on my definition, and their families.
Maybe not a number of ST folks, but these would be the extreme minority.
