I have no idea why some people feel the need to get all snobby about condiments on a hot dog.
A hot. Dog.
Ainât like itâs a porthouse or filet - eat whatever you want on 'em! Hell, I know someone who eats peanut butter on them (I really donât get that one, but to each their own).
i also concur with everyone that ketchup doesnât belong on hot dogs, in fact, i also donât believe it belongs on burgers.
next time, order 2, one without the red crap, one with. and youâll see what we are talking about.
I like my dogs simple, a yellow mustard (there are a few small brands that are just oh so good), and simple heinz relish, fancy relish is ok too, and a good all beef dog, on a white bun, iâm ok with brioche etc, but i tend to put down 5-10 dogs in the right setting, so i prefer the lighter bun.
ketchup is fine on fries, but only if the ketchup is 1/3 part black pepper 2/3 ketchup (try it if you havenât, my wife showed me this on our first date, made me accept her, and ketchup on fries).
I was an early fan of the Burger King slogan âhave it your wayâ because it meant no ketchup on a burger. Lettuce, tomato, onion, relish are all acceptable. Anything that squirts out the side of a sandwich or burger is not.
I always find it funny that the same people who diss ketchup for being too sweet will turn around and put sweet pickle relish on their hotdogs.
Ketchup, mustard, onions are my normal toppings. Or chili is fine. Or melted cheese sauce is fine, or maybe cheese and chili. I donât care for relish, and I donât care for all the crap that people put on Chicago style hot dogs.
Itâs a hot dog. Itâs a childâs meal. You canât really get snobby about someone using a childâs condiment on a childâs food item.
