A good dog is a tired dog

Took the dog on long walk this morning, now she is blissfully asleep for rest of day (other than dinner). It got me thinking that this saying also applies to spouses. Unfortunately I cannot but put a leash on the wife and walk her too, but i envy those who’s spouses also exercise. It is good for mellowing one out.

Wife is into fitness… benefits are she’s fit, and she’s independent/not needy. Mellowing out not needed.

That is the trick with kids.

Your dog sleeps all day after a walk?

I just took my dog to a nearby field where she gets a good 30 min play every morning with neighbor dogs.

Came home, and she was out the door with wife for a 10k trail run (you can’t leash your wife, but you can get her to leash the dog… Two birds with one stone…).

She (dog) will get another 30 min walk at lunch, then a hard 1-1.5hr play at 4, then a short pee walk before bed.

Dog would welcome additional exercise at the drop of a hat. She just loves adventuring outdoors and meeting new people/dogs.

As for the rest of your post, I agree. I need physical activity to stay sane. Currently, I’m just going to the gym twice a week, running once a week, and doing hot yoga once a week. It’s not enough to scratch the itch for me. I’m hoping g to get back to Masters swimming this winter if I can squeeze it in to our busy family schedule.

My dogs run 12 hours a day pulling a sled… then we sleep outside in the snow. : )

I’m very hurt after reading this post. I’m not a triathlete but I exercise and I’m in good shape ~the pretty wife

Are you mellow?

The OP’s wife seems like a nice, regular person.

I’m a wife who exercises all the time, and it seems to just fuel my aggression toward my husband. I use my running to narrow my resentment to a fine point and then I let him have it when I get home. So fun!!

That is amazing.

Mine is a northern dog… Most likely German Shepherd and husky mix. I think she would fit right in!

Any tips on getting a dog started? I just put our dog in a ski Joring harness I had from three dogs ago. She took to it and had a blast. I didn’t let her go very far since she was working hard and the snow was pretty deep- luckily a snowmobile came by and packed the trail. But I picked up the harness this morning and she came running. We joined a Nordic resort that allows dogs on leashes so I figured I’d see how she did in a harness. My daughter does agility with her- so she’s pretty well trained. She’s 80 pounds of some kind of tall skinny lab mix build a lot like a German shorthair and 3.5 yrs old. She seemed none too impressed to be back at the car after just over a mile.

I haven’t a clue… I don’t own a dog. That was a humorous response to the post about escalating dog activity. And why I posted the : ). Since Dan has no emoji options and the pink font BS doesn’t get used very often because " everyone assumes" people must see it is humor that is being presented. I am sorry if you thought otherwise and were sincerely asking about dog training for that type of dog. I am going through some cat laser issues right now. Desensitation and It’s tough… when you are an empty nester…I have throttled back with Christmas decorations.😜 However it has given me an opportunity to experiment in cat laser issues and desensitization techniques… the research will be forthcoming… 😅 The laser issue is complex… we are working on it together in a bipartisan and meaningful way. 😅

Ha, I use my drinking to the same effect, and I don’t have to get sweaty or leave the couch…

Get her a Peloton bike!
