Very nice, thanks Herbert. It would be interesting to know his height, weight, age, and estimated % body fat. Just a thought.

That was a good read. Thanks Herbert. Interesting setup with the lights.

I thought most folks would be interested in his training and his pain cave

But yes that is a miss

Past tense is “Led,” Herbert

You got it right in the link, though, so I’m gonna say it was Autocorrect error and let you off with a warning

Yikes and yikes

Nice interview and interesting to see his setup. He’s definitely all in on the vitamins/supplements which at that level I imagine you’ve gotta start looking for any marginal gains

That is what I found most interesting

Surprised others have not commented

This dude should seriously be sponsored by Peloton - his story would literally sell hundreds, if not thousands of these. I never wanted anything locking me into the Peloton ecosystem, but I’m willing to consider after hearing from this guy!

Funny, I had that same thought that as well.

A lot of them make sense in a way…most people are low in vitamin D, there are some purported benefits of magnesium (and if you take it in the evening it helps you start your day off day if you know what I mean…), protein powder is of obbious benefit, lots of endurance athletes are anemic or boarder-line so iron could help that. Beta alanine, l-carnitine ,Alt Red, and fish oil all perhaps a little bit more of a stretch. Though likely no harm other than cost. I am guessing he is spending at least $100/month on supplements (even without counting the protein powder) unless he is getting come of it comped. But again, at that level could make the different between a payday and not a payday at a race.

The interesting one is probiotics. I’ve come a cross a number of interesting case reports in the medical literature about gut biome and how it can affect a lot of other things in your body. I think there is a lot we have yet to learn in that field. I remember reading one about runners who they tested gut flora of runners at baseline and then a few months after they had been in Africa for training and immersed themselves in teh full culture (diet, etc) and saw a change in that flora. That said, from what I have read so far there is still a lot of unkown about the ‘ideal’ flora composition (and perhaps it’s not just the flora but the role it plays in conjunction with other things) to jump into it.
