92cm BB-Seat Height

I’m shopping for a new Tri Bike. Preferably Di2 and Disc but I have a problem. I’m 6’5” and have long legs. The seat on my P2 is 92cm high. I’m having a hard time finding anything that fits. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tony

Wow, I’ve fit a guy at 6’6’ but in the 870 range. That was an old gen 62 P2.

I’ll get shot for this but if your choices are limited then you actually may have to increase crank length to lower seat height.

Maurice

you’ve got a 42" inseam??

38”.

Actually guys it’s about 36.22" (or are you trying to extrapolate an actual inseam figure from his seat height?)

But why the hell are you trying to convert it in the first place?
Metric does the job perfectly well, is thankfully the system generally used in cycling, and that’s what the OP has used to present his info.

…but if you’re going to convert, try harder ;p

1" = 25.4mm

I don’t think the problem is bike options. I have a 94cm/37" inseam and 82.1cm saddle height.
I do have low ankle flexion so for you to be 4cm higher wouldn’t put you outside a reasonable fit range but 92cm is quite a lot more than that…

I’m running 870mm seat height at a 37+ inseam - I’d be very surprised if the OP may not have got the number slightly wrong.
No, I’m not Maurice’s example of the 6’6" bloke earlier. I’d be interested to know his pad x/y though…

P3x in size XL tops out at a seat height of 865.

Like CycleNutNZ said, maybe something is off with your fit? I’d like to see a video of you on your bike.

Also, how are you measuring?

I wish I could include a pic. I’ve had two fittings with the same results. It’s super comfortable. I just completed my 6th IM on my P2. I measure from BB to middle front of the ISM saddle.

You might have to try converting the picture into an ASCII drawing for it to show up properly on this forum.

With a 38" inseam, I would guess that your saddle height should be around 88.5cm.

How are you measuring your inseam?

Pants. When I use a broom handle (jammed to my sit bones) and a tape measure it’s 40.5”.

No, i dont, you do…i assumed crank length of 170, you apparently assumed crank length of 0. Kind of hard to pedal with no crank. I also took coggan GT range and picked 98%. Used inches as most folks, even here on ST refer to inseam in inches. But for you…say 107cm

Proportions therefore seemed odd, as in either numbers off or dude is 1 foot taller than stated or really likes saddle rammed up there. Guess is, based on follow ups, that measuring is not to spot where he sits or he wears size 75 shoes, euro, for you.

So, your inseam (for bicycle purposes) is 40.5 inches.

I’m 6’4" with a pants inseam of 38" and bike inseam of 99 cm. My seat post is set at 85 cm with 172.5 cranks. My Speed Concept in an XL handles that fine, as does my old P2 in a 62 cm.

For the Trek there is probably another 5 cm of the post in the frame to the minimum insertion point. (I admit that I haven’t pulled the post to verify.)

It is worth looking at the Trek.

The new SHIV Disc maxes out at 904mm with a sitero saddle…Getting an additional 16mm may be possible with adjustments to crank, saddle, shoes, more accurate measurement, etc…

When you get that high of a saddle, double check reach capability as well before making a final decision on any bike.

I’m going to hold out for Kona at least. I’m sure there will be more bikes rolled out next month. I just checked. My seat post is almost maxed out as it only has about 15mm before the min insert line.

+1 on the SC.
I’m pretty happy with the fit, and I’m up an inch higher than you.
The only things I’d like to fiddle with over time are going higher and longer at the front, but I think I might be SOL for that unless I change out the mono extension so I can move the pads further forward and get more extension - at present I ride with my elbow points towards the back of the pad and the shifters pretty much in my fists.
