76 vs 78 degree seat tube

I guess there is consensus that a 78 degree, for most people, is the faster, more aerodynamic choice.

But what about us slower people (6 hour bike?), who are interested in a bit of comfort rather than every bit of aerodynamic advantage.

Might a 76 degree seat tube be a better choice for a slightly more upright, easier on the neck, position?

part of the point of the 78 degree seat tube is to make it more comfy to be aero.

if you want to be more aero most bikes with a 78 degree tube have enough adjustment range to ride at 76 if you want to.

I’m not sure I’d make a 2 degree seat tube difference the deciding factor unless I was riding REALLY upright =)

=)

Not really - it is to BE more aero and stilll generate power (keeping the hip angle “open”). This assumes a bunch at the front end of course. The superman position is uber aero (and UCI illegal) and fast, but not very comfortable I’m sure.

The other issue that applies to some people are UCI regs (esp with small frame sizes) where a 78 degree STA bike might not pass the jig test at races.
