70.3WC- Spain flight

Does anyone know what airline flys direct from NY to Málaga- I cant see to find a direct flight, not sure if its because its too far in advanced. TIA

Just search for any direct flight at any time and work your distant future dates from there.
Lufthansa also “fly” direct but it is a codeshare with the United flight below.

Thanks but the race is in Nov and there seems to be no direct flights then

I guess you answered your own question…

Have you tried using google flights? That is your best bet if not. FWIW, it doesn’t look like there aren’t any direct flights. Best bet is a direct flight to as close as you can from NY. Then a short flight to Malaga.

This is all I found

As of now, there are no direct flights from the United States to Málaga (AGP) between October 15 and November 5, 2025. United Airlines operates the only nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Málaga Airport (AGP), but this route is seasonal and runs from May through September .Costa Excursions+2Flights From+2Direct Flights+2

For travel during your specified dates, you’ll need to consider connecting flights through major European hubs such as Madrid, London, or Paris. These cities offer frequent connections to Málaga and are accessible from various U.S. airports.Costa Excursions

Just fly to Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London and one stop later you are in Malaga. I assume that if you are from NYC area you may think it is common to have a direct flight to everywhere in the world, but NYC area is a bit of an exception. One stop is still not bad. Once it gets to two stop, its a pain for sure (lost connecting bike case is the worst part for that). With one stop make sure connection has at least 90 min, preferable 2 hrs so bike can make the connection

November is the winter schedule. It either hasn’t been released yet or the flights change for winter.

I would keep checking as most timetables go up to October break at the moment. They are normally visible around May bank holiday.

Also another option is just fly direct to Barcelona or Madrid, rent a car and see some of Spain and avoid connections from NYC (if the original poster is planning to rent a car anyway). Realistically though its faster to fly to Tangier in Morocco and take the ferry across and come via a stop in Gibraltar and see something else vs the 10 and 6 hrs drives respectively (sight seeing opp)

If you are looking for an easy connecting flight, Dublin allows US citizens to pre-screen customs, so you don’t have to do that once you hit the states.

wow - great info! thanks for the share

There is also a fast train alternative from Madrid to Málaga. AVE takes about two hours, but it probably only makes sense if you plan to stay some time in Madrid.

I fly to Spain often (not as often as I would like). I would recomend flying to Madrid and then using the high speed train to Malaga. The high speed train ticket includes the train from the Madrid airport to the train station, and the bike! Depending on the dates and hours €20-€40. The train ride is much better than getting on another plane after 8 hour flight, did i mention the train has a cafeteria?

Bike boxes are ok on the train, and it’s easy to rent a van once in Malaga?

That was my biggest concern about the train. I really don’t want o drag a bike box around mroe than absolutely necessary. It feels kinda silly to book that final leg to Malaga but it is an easier connection.

That said, I am flying OUT of madrid (avoid American, they have some interesting check bag restrictions from MAD). I also had no issue renting a “van” in Malaga.

I’ve done that a couple of times, last one in October for the wts final in torremolinos, and it’s a nice trip. Bike not being an issue at all.
