Looking to jump from 53/39 to 55/42. Having difficulty finding chainrings with 130bcd to use on my Quarq PM. I have the Sram Red Quarq with the hidden bolt. I have found a few 56t options, but not sure I want to go that big. Anyone have any suggestions?
As long as your derailleur hanger will accommodate a 56, and your chainstay will clear a 56, and you’re not trying to run a too-small inner ring, there’s little downside to a 56, or even a 58, over a 55.
eta: I happen to have a very lightly used 55T 5 bolt 130 BCD SRAM aero chainring I’m highly unlikely to ever use again. If you’re interested, shoot me a PM with your email and we can discuss pricing/shipping, etc…
I just mentioned the hidden bolt as a detail on the crank I have. Did not mean to make it sound as a requirement. I am having difficulty finding a 55t ring for non hidden bolt as well.
I’ve not dealt with this type of crank before and didn’t know if there were any other differences.
There is a 54 SRAM chainring that looks like new on Ebay as well as a used 55 Vision with some wear. I didn’t know if the pin would be a deal breaker and/or if you can remove it.
I have a 54 SRAM on one of my bikes, I can look to see if the pin is removable.
I may end up going to a 56, but hoping for the 55 to stay slightly closer to the sweet spot on the cassette on flatter courses. May just need to buy a different cassette to help with that.
