Storck scenario. Online retailer, smallest size available. Anyone feel like this would be a reach for me? No retailers near me unfortunately so I’m not able to get sized up.
I’m the exact same size and ride a 52.5 kestrel 4000 SL…
if that helps at all.
I’m about 5’10" about a 31" inseam. A 55 Storck fit me a couple years back better than any bike I’ve ever been on. I think you’re going to need to size down.
More information is needed. Do you know the dimensions, top tube length, reach, stack, head tube length of your current bike and how those specs compare to the Storck. If you can do that you will have a fair idea of whether or not it will work for you. Your own individual preference for fit can/will also have a bearing on what size frame you ride.
I agree with bicycle about sizing down. I’m 6’ with at 31.5" inseam. My Storck was a 57.
Storck usually uses a slightly shorter top tube than most other mfgs so it might work, depending on your proportions at 5’-8" and intended use.
In general though, a 55cm from would likely be too big for a 5’-8" rider
Like many bike fittings, you can make it work but it is probably not optimal. You could get a shorter stem and probably make it work. I am in your same boat and I ride cervelo 54cm with 545 top tube. If the top tube of the 55 is short compared to others like some have said, it could work pretty well. Bottom line is to get fitted, it is money very well spent.
I had a storck and im 5’7’ with a inseam of 30" and 55 would have been to big for me.
we talking road bike or tri set up? if it’s a road bike then there’s a chance you can do it if you’re limber. i’m 5’9" 30in inseam and i actually prefer a 55 but i sit really low on bike and am stretched out, it also has to do with knee position in relation to the bottom bracket. i’m a road racer and although spinning circles is always the goal i make much of my power from behind the bb where as in a tt position you must be forward, which for a 55 wouldn’t work for you…depends on what you’re doing with bike and how well you know your body…
I ride a 55cm Scenario C1.1, and I’m a 56cm in Cannondale CAAD frames and a 58 in Cervelo. I am 72" with a ~33" inseam.
If you happen to live in South Korea, you’re welcome to try it out!
Thanks for all the responses + insight. What’s surprising is that this many folks ride/have ridden a Storck. Anyways the plan is for this to be my road bike. Other than satisfying my urge to buy, there’s not really any point in forcing this one. I want to be content with what I get for $1.5k frame. Storck’s next shortest frame is a 51, which might not be the ideal fit for me either. Actually riding a Storck manufactured bike would probably answer a lot of my questions…
Make sure you have two bolts in your derailleur hangar - or avoid that design entirely, if you can. They have changed the design since the 2010 model year.
51 would likely be the best one for your size. 55, like the other posters said above seems way too big. I’m 5’9, 30-31ish inseam, and I’d absolutely spring for the 51.
