4cm in front of BB. Pluses and minuses

I was doing measuring today from my existing bike to carry over to a new bike. I am presently sitting relatively forward. Seat tip is 4cm in front of BB.

I have been trying to read everything I can. What are the issues of sitting more forward versus back?

My new bike has a 4mm longer reach. So either I need to push the seat forward another 4mm or put a 10mm shorter stem and pull back the seat 6mm.

I am debating on what makes more sense.

Do you really think that 4-10mm more reach is really going to make any difference? People are way too obsessive about stuff like that. In all the “noise” of riding a new bike you likely won’t notice the difference.

assuming that your previous position was optimal for you before

it makes more sense to get a shorter stem. this would make your position exactly the same as before.

but, ill agree with cdw here
it probably won’t matter =)
