404 sticker removal?

I want to take the stickers off my 404’s but those things are pretty tenacious. I was thinking a razor blade and then clean up the remaining with acetone, but I wasn’t sure if acetone was okay on the deep dish of the wheel. Anyone have any suggestions?

Much obliged,

I removed the old stickers on my 404s and replaced them with the new ones. It really is not that hard.

I used a razor blade to get under the tips of the old stickers, then slowly removed them pulling just a bit at a time. A few of them tore as I was removing them. Used the razor to get under those little bits.

I then used rubbing alcohol and soft cotton rags to get off any remaining adhesive. Came off really easily.

I was quite surprised. I thought it would be a long, difficult process, but, overall, it was quite easy. Just move slowly and carefully.

don’t use a razor blade, use a sharp plastic ice scraper or something similar.

Hair dryer set on low, a little heat and they pull off nice and clean.

Nice- i’ll give that a try. Thanks!

Hair dryer, some ‘goof-off’ (or goo-gone) and a lot of patience. Oh, use the edge of an old credit card or something similar to help get the edges started.

Some of the older 404’s, like the first year of dimples, have the decal under a layer of lacquer. Essentially bonded for eternity.

And whatever product you use, make sure it’s not in a can…he hates cans!
